The Button is an object that was introduced in the episode, The Button. It was, seemingly on Maellard's order placed in the park by Dr. Reuben Langer. Benson dislikes the button, as well as The Dome itself.
Appearance
The Button was red and round, on a silver platform, temporarily covered in glass. The platform it was placed on was in the shape of a pyramid with a flat surface at the top for the button.
History
Spark Initiative in The Park
Spark first came to the park in "The Dome Experiment" in which Dr. Dome, the creator and leader, was ordered by Maellard off-screen [1] to begin Spark and spread it around, in order to get his son, the chosen one to space. Benson, the parks manager as well as its employees, hate the dome, so they destroy the plan and freeze Dr. Dome to death.
Spark using force
Spark, also known as just: 'the dome' to the park employees for a time do not come back for a while, but later on in "The Button", as in the season seven episode come back, and need to use force, taking full control over Benson, shutting off the dome to the public, and placing in a button. The Button's actual purpose was [SPOILER, CLICK HERE TO SEE->[2]], although it remained extremely ambiguous to the park members, even driving Benson mad at one point.

Heading to space
In Rigby's Graduation Day Special, at the end, Rigby panics, and finally presses the button with everyone else, launching the guys to space, including Eileen. They stayed in space for three years and then came down. When they first launched, Benson often blamed Rigby for "pressing the stupid button."
