"Fancy Restaurant" is the thirty-second episode of Regular Show's third season (and seventy-second episode overall). It first aired on July 16, 2012.[1]
Synopsis
Muscle Man hopes to impress Starla and her parents at a fancy restaurant despite little knowledge of etiquette.
Plot
The episode starts off with Muscle Man spitting out gum on a wrapper, but not closing it. He sits down with Starla, who has a concerned look on her face, is holding popcorn to laugh and eat for the prank. A jogger steps over the gum without noticing, and he laughs, but she doesn't.
She then tells Muscle Man that it's time to take their relationship to the next level, and explains that her parents are in town tonight. He is excited by this, and says that they should take them to Wing Kingdom, but Starla says that she doesn't want to take them there, and shows him a bistro in the park, where he says "Oh no, bro." Starla says that she'll see him at 7 o’clock. Later, Muscle Man is seen in the kitchen at the phone. He makes a reservation for 7:00, where the Maitre d' yells at him that he better be fancy, or else. Mordecai and Rigby, who have been listening to the phone call, ask what's wrong. Muscle Man says that he has to take Starla and her parents out to dinner tonight, but he has to be fancy. He says that he's afraid that if he isn't good enough, he'll get dumped by Starla and he'll be miserable. Mordecai and Rigby reply that they'll help, partially to avoid doing his work and partially because they're his friends.
They take him to Pops, who has a manners book, but is long that they leave once he reads the cover. Mordecai decides to help Muscle Man their way, mostly because Muscle Man doesn’t like hearing Pops speak Greek. They then go through a montage of teaching him how to be fancy. He is bad at first, but he eventually gets better at it. Mordecai says the last step is getting an outfit. They head to a clothing store where Muscle Man is dressed in a suit with his hair gelled back. He says he feels like a new man, but then the suit tears and his hair breaks. He starts crying that he'll never be ready, but Mordecai and Rigby have a plan B.
At the restaurant where Muscle Man and Starla's parents are eating, Muscle Man tests out the radio ear sets he got from the duo, when Starla and her parents, Herb and Rose appear. Muscle Man shakes hands with Herb, and kisses the hand of Rose. Starla is surprised by this, and so are her parents. They start to walk toward the door, which Muscle Man rushes toward and opens. Starla and her parents thank Muscle Man, and Muscle Man tells Maitre d' about his reservation. He reminds him that he better be fancy, and the group of four enter the restaurant. Maitre d' tells a waiter to keep an eye on them, and then it is revealed that Mordecai is disguised as a waiter to help Muscle Man, and Rigby is disguised as a customer in goggles to also help him. Throughout the meal, Mordecai and Rigby help Muscle Man to be fancy, but the dinner gets worse when their scheme is uncovered by the Maitre and his staff at the restaurant.
After Muscle Man and Herb reveal that they're not fancy, the restaurant attempts to kick them out because they're not fancy. A fight ensues, saving Mordecai and Rigby, stopping the staff, and the Maitre d' lays on a car unconscious. Starla's parents still want Muscle Man to take them somewhere, and he takes them to Wing Kingdom and Mordecai and Rigby follow. Starla's parents say that they're picky, but they don't care. After dissing the restaurant and telling him that he likes him, Muscle Man flips the table over and he and Herb take off their shirts and yell "Woooo!!!!!" Mordecai then asks Rigby if he wants his wings, and Rigby replies "No thanks” because he just lost his appetite and the episode ends there.
