"Sleep Cycle" is the eleventh episode of Regular Show's seventh season (and one hundred and ninety second overall). It first aired on November 10, 2015.
Synopsis
Mordecai and Rigby watch movies for two whole nights, throwing off their sleep cycles.
Plot
Friday night, Mordecai and Rigby decide to start their weekend by watching the "Morales and MacCreedy" movie marathons from 11 at night to 7 in the morning on TV28. The two watch all three nights of the marathon, sleeping through daytime on Saturday and Sunday. At the end of the marathons, Mordecai and Rigby head upstairs to get sleep, only to find out it's already Monday by Benson taking them to the morning meeting. At the meeting, Mordecai and Rigby, struggling to stay awake, are assigned to rake and bag all the park leaves by the end of the day. Realizing their sleep schedules are messed up, they agree to stay up all day no matter what, but ultimately end up passing out on the porch. Benson finds them at 6 pm and scolds them for not completing their chores, threatening to fire them if they don't get back to work. At night, the two try to sleep, but are unable to due to having slept all day. Mordecai suggests they watch something boring on TV to fall asleep, and they tune to Dr. Sheldon Weatherberry's series on bug pinning. Finally feeling tired, Mordecai and Rigby prepare to sleep, but look outside to see it's already Tuesday morning, to their shock.
Later, the two struggle to rake leaves even with the help of coffee, but are unable to stop due to Benson's supervision. Muscle Man offers to hook them up with someone who has really strong coffee. The dealer arrives by crashing his van in front of the house and provides Mordecai and Rigby with two coffees before collapsing and asking for an ambulance. The coffee energizes them and allows them to quickly and effortlessly finish all their chores. The coffee however keeps them up past 3:03 AM as the two again struggle to fall asleep. Realizing they need help, they wake up Skips. Skips takes them to wake up Gary, and Gary takes them all to Drifters Port in space to meet the Sentinels of Sleep, Apollo and Koko. Although Koko is angered by Rigby laughing at his name, they agree to help them fix their sleep schedules. Apollo and Koko present Mordecai and Rigby with a challenge: they must engage in a race along a track filled with traps, culminating in them catching the sun if they want to fix themselves, else they will remain a night owl for the rest of their lives. The two watch another night owl attempt to complete the race, only for him to get knocked off and die in the vacuum of space. Mordecai and Rigby start to reconsider, but get teleported to the start of the track. Apollo reassures them there are also power ups on the track to help them succeed.
The two start the race, dodging several obstacles in their path. A flying music box appears next to Mordecai, and he opens it mistaking it for a power up. Mordecai falls asleep and falls behind, but Rigby grabs a power up, a cup of coffee, to wake him up. The two get another power up, a rocket booster, which brings them closer to the sun. At that moment, Koko summons another power up for Rigby, but tricks him into grabbing a bomb out of spite for mocking his name earlier. The bomb blows up the back of the race track, leading to Rigby nearly falling off. Mordecai however is able to save Rigby and the two complete the race, finally fixing their sleep cycles. Mordecai, Rigby and Skips go back home. On TV, Rigby notices that a new Morales and MacCreedy marathon is starting, this time a prequel story. Mordecai and Rigby excitedly proclaim "All Nighter!" once again. However, Skips, annoyed the two haven't learned anything, smashes the TV and yells at Mordecai and Rigby to go to sleep.
